Purview Description

The following Gods have access to this purview: Athena (Owl), Demeter (Horse), Hera (Peacock), Pan (Goat), Poseidon (Horse)

1st Rank Boon

Animal Communication.
Dice Pool: Intelligence + Animal Ken
Cost: None
This boon allows the Scion to make himself understood by an animal and can in turn understand the animals respond. This doesn’t make them loyal to the Scion however but instead just curious before deciding how to act.

2nd Rank Boon

Animal Command
Dice Pool: Charisma + Animal Ken
Cost: 1 Willpower
The Scion can command an animal to perform a simple and non-suicidal task. The animal must comply to this command though the Scion needs “Animal Communication” in order to make himself understood by the animal.

3rd Rank Boon

Animal Aspect
Dice Pool: Stamina + Animal Ken
Cost: 1 Legend per action
Meditating to a representative token of his animal, the Scion gains a metaphorical characteristic associated with it which grants a dice bonus to this attibute.

Faunaphagia
Dice Pool: Stamina + Animal Ken
Cost: 1 Willpower + 1 Legend
The Scion must devour flesh of his chosen animal to gain additional points of Abilities that he can borrow from the animal. Refer to the animal templates on pp. 328-332 of Scion: Hero to see which Abilities can be borrowed. The animal needs to possess these Abilities though and can only add onto a maximum of five. The effect lasts for the rest of the scene.

4th Rank Boon

Ride Animal
Dice Pool: Intelligence + Animal Ken
Cost: 1 Legend
With this boon, the Scion takes control of a specimen of his associated animal. This boon functions exactly like Horse (Cheval •••) except it works on animals. Birthright creature can allow to be controlled, all other animals impose a difficulty equal to their intelligence. Nemean’s difficulty multiplies by their Legend rating +1.

5th Rank Boon

Animal Feature
Dice Pool: Stamina + Animal Ken
Cost: 1 Willpower (+ 1 Legend for each feature) For one scene, the Scion can change a part of their body to fit the animal’s anatomy. For example, a Scion with cat as animal could grow claws. If the animal is an airborne creature, he could shift his hands into wings and fly at a rate equal to his Move rate. If the change grants some sort of bonus, it cannot exceed the Scion’s Legend. Per five successes, the Scion can take on one feature.

6th Rank Boon

Animal Form
Dice Pool: None
Cost: (1 Willpower + 1 lethal health level) per act of creation; 1 Legend per set of units
This boon allows the Scion, in one action (Speed 5, DV -1), to shift into a specimen of his choosen animal. His physical stats do not differ from a normal animal but his mental attributes will stay the same. While in animal form, the Scion has only access to his Epic Mental Attributes and Knacks. He can communicate with animals of his type and other Scion’s will be able to comprehend him through Animal Communication. The Scion is also immune to the effects of Animal Command or Ride Animal, however, he cannot use Animal Feature and Animal Aspect.

7th Rank Boon

Create Animal
Dice Pool: None
Cost: (1 Willpower + 1 lethal health level) per act of creation; 1 Legend per set of units
The Scion can create a mundane speciman of his chosen animal. Animals created through this boon are as loyal to the Scion as a Birthright creature would be and will follow and will fullfil any task given to them. The animal will vanish after one scene. Refer to the table on page 71 in Scion:Demigod: The Scion doesn’t need to actually create the maximum number but must pay the price to create a complete animal. For instance, creating a horse would cost the Scion four Legend while a sperm whale would require ten Legend. If the Scion hasn’t the needed Legend, he cannot create the animal.

Paper Tiger
Dice Pool: Intelligence + Art
Cost: 1 Willpower + 5 Legend per act of creation; 1 Legend per unit
The Scion using this boon can create animals, similar to the Create Animal boon above, except he does not create the animal out of his own blood but instead uses a picture, icon or anything that portraits the creature to be summoned. Refer to the table of Create Animal to find the costs for the animals. It applies the same rule that the Scion does not need to summon the maximum numbers of units but still needs to pay the full Legend.

8th Rank Boon

Epic Enhancement
Dice Pool:Intelligence + Animal Ken
Cost: (1 Willpower + 3 Legend) per Attribute; (1 Willpower + 5 Legend) per Epic Attribute
This boon makes it possible for the Scion to increase an animals Mental and Social Attributes to a maximum of 5 while Dexterity can be doubled. The Scion can grant up to 3 Epic Physical Attributes onto his animal or increase his size by 50%. The animal will automatically increase its Legend to 1.

9th Rank Boon

Hybrid Chimera
Dice Pool: Intelligence + Animal Ken
Cost: 10 Legend, 15 Legend or 20 Legend
The Scion who uses this boon is able to combine multiple animal types into a number of adult hybrid animals. The difficulty to this procedur is the total Stamina of the base creatures. Refer to Scion: God, pg. 81 to figure out the new stats and size of the created animals.

Protean Understanding
Dice Pool: None
Cost: None
The Scion can apply all boons from the Animal purview to any animal regardless of the animal he started with.

The Beast
Cost: 1 Willpower + 30 Legend
For the duration of one scene, the Scion will become The Beast. He will be able to hear the thoughts of all animals and they will do any task he tells them to. The Beast can devour dozen of mortals and other creatures, is the perfect hunter and tracker and is immune to all mortal weapons. He can’t be trapped and neither can he be ambushed.
